How the membership programme works...
This is bespoke coaching for busy people with pain, health challenges, time constraints and postural problems.
Your programme is tailored to help alleviate pain during training, improve posture in day-to-day positions and build you back to fitness. You will get these amazing benefits:
- An initial PRIVATE 1-2-1 screening session with a qualified Functional Patterns Practitioner and ongoing weekly support.
- Regular PRIVATE 1-2-1 sessions to adjust your protocol and assess progress (every 4-6 weeks).
- Small group coaching calls for practice and assistance from a practitioner, each session is recorded and placed in a secure members area for you to access and review.
- Nutritional support to complement your training as being able to connect to muscles has a lot to do with body fat and muscle tone.
- Membership of a private WhatsApp group for sharing progress, asking questions, and receiving updates on health and wellbeing related topics.

What is Functional Patterns?
Functional Patterns takes a first-principles approach to training the human body.
Understanding the most fundamental movements that define our species allows us to determine what stimuli we should give our bodies to enhance their function.
Standing, walking, running and throwing are the most fundamental, according to anthropologists, and if we work on becoming better at those things, then our muscles work better to support our bones. This in turn creates a positive effect on the whole body, including the nervous system.
Functional Patterns is therefore designed around enhancing these functions to improve performance and eliminate pain. If you are a human being, FP is for you. Most of all, FP achieves results like no one else in the industry.

BRENDAN TURNER
Over the last 10 years I have been neck deep in the fitness industry.
I lost 10 stone (140lbs or 64kgs) and changed my life. I got involved in group fitness very early on and made a lot of great connections and friendships in the process.
Getting injured 7 years after losing weight was a huge setback for me mentally. I had to change the entire way I coached people and how I trained myself. It was an eye-opening experience for me as it showed me a lot of issues that exist in the fitness industry...
I had to ditch my preconceived notions about fitness and health and relearn how to walk and run. It felt like going back to the beginning of my journey and starting over.
At times, I thought, why bother? But the thing is; I couldn't handle being in pain and knowing that I could be in a much better place with my health. I knew that if I could do it once, I could do it again...
Learning Functional Patterns and spending time confronting my biggest demon - my spine - has been the biggest challenge yet.
I'm here to help you with your challenges, as I learn and practice I hope to pass more knowledge and information over to people who need it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We spend an hour or more getting to know more about your lifestyle, aches, pains, habits and training history. We will then cover a visual check of your posture. Based on your specific situation, we will then work on some simple corrective techniques to help you with any associations and from there you are set homework and practice to complete.
These are opportunities for you to share with your practitioner what things you are struggling with. Initially, you will be set some homework to follow to help you specifically. Each session, your practitioner will spend time with you individually and as a group, giving you a concept of movement and cueing to help you achieve more out of your homework and practice.
Currently, there are two calls per week on offer for you to dial in for. There will be more slots at later stages as more people join the programme.

Your individual 1-2-1's are booked in through a link that you will be provided ahead of time.
We are fully qualified PTs in the UK, initially with REPS which is now UK Coaching. Brendan has also been working with Functional Patterns for 2 years and has qualified as a Human Foundations Practitioner in Biomechanics. There are 3 more years of study ahead of him to progress to the top level.
The best results with our programmes come when you devote your entire focus on one thing. It's not to say you won't get the results you want whilst continuing your current activities, but they might take longer to achieve.
No, you can achieve great results with simple equipment and the right programming. Whilst some of the programme is set, the majority of your coaching is completely bespoke to your needs, but will always require minimal equipment. Depending on the programme you on, you will receive either a basic or more advanced pack when you start.
This depends on some variables, in Brendan's case it took 7 weeks to see some quick wins, but sometimes it can take longer. Practice, consistency and being open to new techniques will help you see results more quickly.
They are structured to be an hour, but may run over or under, depending on what your needs are that day. Each session is recorded in case you cannot make the session or need to go over anything.
